Recognition portfolio
Here you will find an overview of the PLAR recognition portfolio.
Please only start creating the portfolio after your personal consultation with the PLAR-Service. The prerequisite is that you have previously attended an initial consultation.
All required documents can be found in the stud.IP course PLAR portfolio consultation.
Recogniton form
You can find the appropriate application form for your degree program in the stud.IP course PLAR Portfolio Consultation under "Files". Please complete a separate form for each subject (e.g. Education, area of specialisation). If there is no ready-made form for your degree program, please use the Bachelor's or Master's blank form.
Remember to put a cross(es) and your signature - only then will you actually submit your application for recognition.
Explanatory statement
Please introduce yourself as a person on no more than one page. Describe in your own words why you are submitting the application. Please refer to the skills you have acquired to date.
You should consider the following points when explaining your application:
Cover letter
The explanatory statement is your cover letter and therefore your "most personal" contact with the recognition matters specialist of a subject who will decide on your application. Take the opportunity to introduce yourself to them.
Curriculum vitae
Please add a tabular curriculum vitae to the portfolio.
In particular, the CV should contain precise details of your training, further education and professional activities.
You should consider the following points when preparing your CV:
Skills
The aim of your CV is to show the skills you have acquired based on your career stages with as few gaps as possible.
Higher education entrance qualification
Which higher education entrance qualification do you have: a general or subject-specific one? Via Abitur or via a recognized professional qualification (Z examination, 3+3 regulation)?
Information about your primary school attendance does not have to be included in your CV.
Range
Do you have a professional hobby or do you do voluntary work? You can list skills from all areas of life in your CV.
Recognition synopsis
For each of the modules for which you are applying for recogniton, please complete a recognition synopsis. You can find the form in the stud.IP course PLAR portfolio consultation under "Files".
The purpose of the recognition synopsis is to demonstrate that you have already achieved the competence objectives (see video below) of the module through skills/abilities acquired outside the university. To do this, you should describe in the form what you can already do (column 1) and where you learned it (column 2). In column 3, you should provide proof of the respective skill. For the correct numbering and further information, please refer to the menu item "Evidence".
The evidence provided should clearly show that you have the skills and abilities listed in column 1. If necessary, refer to specific pages in the supporting documents. Mark the relevant paragraphs in the supporting documents.
Please list a maximum of three authentic documents/curricula and a maximum of three certificates/diplomas per line. Please use a maximum of five pages for this table.

Evidence
In column 3 of the recognition synopsis, please refer to evidence of your skills and abilities. Copies of all the evidence listed here must be attached to the portfolio. Please do not attach any evidence to the portfolio that you have not listed in the recognition synopsis.
Number your evidence as follows:
- Authentic evidence and curricula (= non-formal evidence) consecutively with A1, A2, A3, ....
- Certificates and diplomas (= formal evidence) consecutively with Z1, Z2, Z3, ...
Then enter the numbers in the recognition synopsis in column 3 ("Reference to evidence") next to the relevant competence.
Please list a maximum of three authentic documents/curricula and a maximum of three certificates/diplomas per line in the credit synopsis.
Authentic evidence
Each person has individual authentic evidence. This means that they can be very different - the following list therefore only contains examples:
work samples
- own publications (scientific articles, monographs)
- work reports
- Expert opinions (prepared by you)
- Written or pictorial representations of your procedures:
Notes, work plans, visualizations and presentations (graphics, illustrations, videos of drafts and results)
Curricula are excerpts from the educational programmes you have completed: overviews of learning content, learning objectives, learning processes
Formal certificates
- from education, training and further education
- for professional or voluntary activities
The diplomas and certificates do not have to be notarized.
If it is not clear from which context the certificates originate, please add appropriate explanations.
Please adhere to the protection regulations for personal data in accordance with the GDPR and agreements made with employers to protect business secrets.
Notes at the end
By submitting the recognition portfolio, you confirm that:
- all documents and evidence submitted relate to your own biography.
- all representations in the recognition synopses were created by you personally.
- You can only submit an application for recognition transfer if you have not yet registered for the relevant module examination (or if it is no longer possible to deregister). It is also not possible to submit a recognition application if you have already attempted an examination.
- As long as your recognition application has not yet been decided, you should continue to attend the module courses for which you have applied for recognition and, if necessary, register for module examinations in order not to miss the registration deadline.

Submitting the recognition portfolio
Please upload your completed portfolio in the stud.IP course PLAR portfolio consultation under "Files". Here you will also find an information sheet with instructions for submission, which describes exactly how you should organize and label the individual documents of your portfolio in PDF documents.
The portfolio is submitted within a protected submission folder so that only the PLAR service staff can download and view your documents. Your portfolio will remain invisible to other participants in the course.
