What does PLAR mean?

PLAR is the abbreviation for "Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition". It is therefore about the assessment and recognition of learning outcomes and skills acquired previously or outside the university.

Who is the PLAR-Service aimed at?

  • Are you enrolled at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg?
  • Have you completed professional training and/or do you have skills and competences from work, further education and training?
  • Have you identified modules in your degree program for which you already have the required skills?

Then the PLAR-Service can advise you on your recognition options!

What does the PLAR-Service offer you?

The PLAR-Service

  • advises you on your recognition options and supports you with the application process,
  • helps you to present your learning outcomes and competences in a portfolio in a comprehensible manner and thus make them visible for a recognition application,
  • helps you to compile the documents required for the application and, if necessary, supports you in identifying evidence that proves the acquisition of recognize skills.
