ChemOL has been an integral part of the training of future teachers for years. The school laboratory is a practical course for students of interdisciplinary subject education on the two-subject Bachelor's degree course. On this course, it is part of the advanced module "Scientific and technical subject teaching in practice"

Students acquire basic skills in the design, embedding and implementation of scientific, in particular chemical, experiments with children of primary school age or at special schools. After an introductory phase, the focus is on the independent supervision of groups of pupils and a final reflection on this activity in the form of joint and independent analyses.
