The application and selection process is as follows:
- Applications are only accepted during the application deadlines. The cover letter must be sent to the university management, but the documents must be submitted - in digital form via Stud.IP - to the Scholarships service centre.
- After the application deadline, the applications are checked by the Scholarships service centre and any missing documents are requested, usually by email.
- The university then makes a selection of eligible applicants. Their documents are submitted to the Board of the Dr Dettling Foundation for a decision.
- Finally, the applicants receive an acceptance or rejection letter from the Dr Dettling Foundation.
- Funding begins at the start of the next semester and usually lasts no longer than six months.
- The scholarships are ceremoniously awarded at a small awards ceremony.
