All admission requirements and criteria are listed in the:

You need to meet all of the following academic admission requirements (1, 2, and 3): 

1. a Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS credits (three years full-time study) 
   in one of the following fields:

   a) data science, 
   b) mathematics, 
   c) statistics,
   d) physics,
   e) computer science, 
   f) business informatics
   g) or a closely related field

   Important note: Students without a degree in the fields of data science, mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or business informatics must prove an additional 15 credit points (450 hours) in data science. Competencies in data science can also be proven with work experience in the field.
   Important note: Students may apply with a transcript if they are currently still completing their Bachelor’s degree. In this case, they need to prove the credits of all but the last semester. If they study in an ECTS system, they may miss a maximum of 30 ECTS at the time of application. If they will complete the above listed specific requirements only in their last term, they need to include a proof that they are currently studying these contents.

2. 30 credit points, CP (student workload of 900 hours) in mathematics and computer science including at least

   a) 20 credit points in mathematics*, of which
        a.1) 5 CPs analysis or linear algebra AND
        a.2) 5 CPs in probability theory or statistics
   b) and 10 credit points in computer science*, of which
        b.1) 5 CPs in the field of algorithms AND
        b.2) 5 CPs in a higher programming language (preferably Python).
   Important note: If students can prove 20 credit points in mathematics and 10 credit points in computer science and do not miss more than 5 credit points in the areas of statistics and a maximum of 5 credit points in algorithms or programming, they may catch up on missing competencies in additional modules.

3. sufficient English language skills: Level B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR (see more detailed description below)

* Please note that that 20 CPs in mathematics (including 5 CP in analysis/linear algebra) and 10 CPs in computer science are hard criteria and must be met in any case.
 

For admission to the Master’s degree programme sufficient English language skills: need to be met: Level B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR.

Confirmation and proof meeting these criteria can be provided by a first university degree in English from a country with English or German as an official language or from a country of the European Union, or by tests passed at level B2 (or higher).  
In particular, the following tests are recognised: TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge English Language Assessment, UNIcert, TOEIC, TELC, a language test from the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg or another German university. 
Other confirmation and proof is permitted as long as that proof documents sufficient language proficiency. 
The confirmation and proof of language proficiency at level B2 must be no older than two years at the time of application. 
The confirmation and proof for language proficiency at a level higher than B2 must be no be older than six years at the time of application.

You may apply with a provisional transcript as long as it shows the credits for all but the last semester. In case you only gained credits for classes that fall in our admission requirements in your last semester, please provide an additional proof of these classes, e.g. short statement from the teacher that you passed.

The following documents must be enclosed with the application in German or English*:

• Bachelor's degree and/or transcript of records (certified for applications via the university)
• proof of the number of semesters studied thus far (for applications via the university)
• completed specific eligibility form (to be found on course website and in application portal: : Specific Eligibility Form Data Science and Machine Learning - Campusmanagementsystem Stud.IP and specific eligibility form DSML)
• proof of mastery of English (see language requirements).
   

Include with the application only if applicable:

• certificates concerning relevant internships or work experience (e.g. employer's reference, internship certificate, supervisor's certificate)
• the subject of your Bachelor's thesis

• The admissions committee will evaluate the applicant based on the documents presented and students will be admitted based on a ranking order.
• The degree of eligibility depends upon the sum of the points from categories A and B (see below).
