School III Regulations on Appointment Committees and Chairs
Appointment committees are generally appointed and set up by the Dean. In order to reach a decision, the composition of the appointment committee is sent by email to the dean and the faculty office in the CC, stating the position to be filled (scope, job title, classification according to TV-L, department, etc.).
The faculty office then informs the elected members and deputies of the election by email.
In special cases, the appointment of an appointment committee can be discussed and elected by the Faculty Council.
They are composed as follows:
a) Temporary positions/qualification positions
in the case of qualification positions 3 : 1 : 1 (3 professors, 1 academic staff member, 1 student), in the case of other fixed-term positions 3 representatives for the department (generally from the group of professors), 1 academic staff member, 1 student; extension by 1 MTV as an advisory member, e.g. for administrative support, possible;
Chair in the case of qualification positions: supervising professor
b) Permanent positions (WM, LfbA)
4 : 1 : 1 : 1 (4 representatives for the department, generally from the group of professors, 1 academic staff member, 1 student, 1 MTV)
Chair as a rule: Head of Institute
c) Nonprofessorial positions to be filled in third-party funded projects
2 : 1 (2 professors or project leaders, 1 academic staff member)
Chair usually: project leader
d) MTV positions
The appointment committee to be formed in the organisational units is regularly composed of 4 members with voting rights, at least two of whom are women:
- a representative of the university management (in the area of central administration);
- the head of the organisational unit
In FK III, these two representatives of the department are usually the faculty management (FGF) and the head of the institute; - two representatives of the employees of the organisational unit concerned, one of whom should belong to the narrower area of responsibility (proposed from among the employees)
In the decentralised area, the Chair is held by the head of the respective organisational unit or the person delegated by them to the commission. FK III: usually FGF
Appointment of the commission
A proposal for the composition of the commission is submitted to the dean on the basis of the above-mentioned general guideline and job-related concretisation with a request for appointment.
