Habilitation and rehabilitation

Habilitation

Anyone wishing to habilitate in a subject in School IV must submit a habilitation application to the Dean of School IV and submit it to the Faculty Office with the following documents:

  • Habilitation thesis in digital form and 4 additional printed copies
  • Curriculum vitae with a description of the academic and academic appointment
  • Certified copy of the doctoral certificate
  • List of academic work
  • List of courses, including teaching evaluations for at least the last 5 years, if available
  • Affidavit of independent performance without unauthorised external assistance
  • Declaration that the regulations on the principles of good academic practice have been observed
  • Declaration on previous proposals for admission to habilitation and, if applicable, the result
  • Extended certificate of good conduct according to §30a para. 1 no. 2a BZRG (if required, the faculty office will provide a letter for the issuing authority)
  • Description of the venia legendi with specialisation for which the habilitation is sought
  • Proposal for a reviewer according to §8 para. 1 HabilO

In the case of cumulative habilitations, the dissertation must NOT be part of the habilitation thesis. A detailed summary of the submitted work must be attached.

Rehabilitation

Anyone who has habilitated at another academic university can apply for re-habilitation at the University of Oldenburg. The procedure for re-habilitation is regulated in §17 of the habilitation regulations and is analogous to the habilitation procedure, i.e. the same documents must be submitted as for a proposal for habilitation and in addition to this:

  • Copy of the habilitation certificate
  • Copies of the expert reports from the original habilitation procedure or
alternatively: Declaration of consent to obtain the expert reports from the
    previous home university
