New 3D printer for GIZ: more options for prototype development

Thanks to the support of the Metal Industry Foundation in the North West, the Innocampus has a new 3D printer. It opens up new possibilities for our start-up teams in prototype development.

There is reason to celebrate at the Innocampus: the official handover of a new 3D printer marks an important milestone for the technical equipment and support of our founding teams. The purchase was made possible by the generous support of the Foundation of the Metal Industry in the Northwest, whom we would like to thank for their support.

The new printer works with an epoxy resin-based process in which liquid resin is cured layer by layer using a UV laser. The actual printing process is followed by further steps such as washing the components, post-curing and - depending on requirements - additional post-processing. This multi-stage process enables particularly precise and high-quality results.

A particular advantage of the new system is its significantly larger construction volume. This means that components can be produced faster and on a larger scale. At the same time, the printer opens up new possibilities for prototype development: fine structures can be realised precisely, various material properties can be tested and different degrees of hardness - from stable to more elastic structures - can also be achieved.

This expansion is an important step forward for our start-up teams. In future, ideas can be turned into tangible models, tested and further developed even faster. The new 3D printer thus strengthens the innovative power at GIZ and supports the teams in efficiently advancing their products and solutions.
