The dream of building and presenting a self-designed means of transport is coming true this summer for a group of students from the University of Oldenburg and Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences. The group from the Engineering Physics degree programme applied for the international "Hyperloop Pod Competition II" - and has now been awarded the contract to take part in the final round in California as one of 24 teams. The aim of the competition is to send a self-designed transport capsule, known as a pod, along the Californian Hyperloop test track as quickly as possible. Hyperloop, a kind of train in a tube, was originally the idea of SpaceX founder and Tesla boss Elon Musk. Thanks to levitation technology and low air resistance, the system could transport passengers at speeds of up to 1,200 kilometres per hour in the future. More
