Career Day ICBM

Career Day at the ICBM

The ICBM Career Day is designed to prepare students and doctoral candidates for their future careers both inside and outside academiay.

Looking to the future with confidence

If Master's graduates and doctoral candidates are already aware that there is no such thing as "the" natural scientist, biologist, marine biologist, (...), but that their studies and doctorate open up a wide range of opportunities in research and development, sales and marketing, further education and consulting, administration and media as well as in numerous other fields, then they can look to the future with more confidence.

Aim of career days

One aim of the event is to highlight career paths and job profiles in the field of marine sciences and related disciplines. It is also intended to provide an opportunity for discussion with experienced scientists and related professionals. This event has the character of a conference at which speakers from companies, authorities, scientific institutions or environmental associations etc. are represented. These speakers give short presentations on company practices and show professional (career) paths and provide information on job profiles.

After the presentation, students and doctoral candidates have the opportunity to ask questions to the speaker or to "chat out of the sewing box" in a small group and thus obtain a wealth of information and tips.

The career days are organized by ICBM doctoral researchers. In addition to gaining practical professional experience, they also strengthen key skills in the areas of interactive use of media and resources, moderation or interacting in heterogeneous groups.
