Doctoral (degree) programmes
In recent years, so-called structured doctoral programs, such as graduate schools (e.g. OLTECH in Oldenburg) or research training groups, have increasingly established themselves in Germany as a path to a doctorate alongside the traditional individual doctorate. Structured doctoral programmes are characterized by a structured training programme and integration into a challenging and interdisciplinary research environment. There are currently around 700 doctoral programs in Germany, and the number is rising.
Oldenburg and the Northwestern region of Germany have an international reputation as an outstanding location for research in the field of marine biology that successfully attracts both national and international scientists and students.
Early career scientists in the PhD program “Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity” or in the Collaboration Network of Marine Graduate Programs at the University of Oldenburg are welcome to participate in most training courses offered at our partner institutions.
PhD programme Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity
Doctoral degree programme/PhD programme "Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity".
We offer a three year PhD with courses in three different modules:
- Specialised scientific knowledge
- Communicative competences
- Trransferable competences and soft skills
The core of the programme is an independent doctoral research project in one of the participating research groups.
Intergrated Research Training Group of the CRC Roseobacter
The Research Training Group integrated into the CRC Roseobacter wants to attract the most promising young scientists from across the world with majors in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry and bioinformatics. The group supports the education of the PhD students through providing an excellent research environment and offering introductory and advanced training courses. This comprehensive concept improves the qualifications of the doctoral students and facilitates their development into leading researchers of the future.
EcoMol - The ecology of molecules“ („EcoMol“)
The new PhD Research Training Group “The Ecology of Molecules” is being coordinated at the ICBM. Twelve working groups, located in Oldenburg und Wilhelmshaven, are involved. The ICBM is an interdisciplinary research institute, performing fundamental and applied research in the marine sciences.
