Doctoral (degree) programmes

In recent years, so-called structured doctoral programs, such as graduate schools (e.g. OLTECH in Oldenburg) or research training groups, have increasingly established themselves in Germany as a path to a doctorate alongside the traditional individual doctorate. Structured doctoral programmes are characterized by a structured training programme and integration into a challenging and interdisciplinary research environment. There are currently around 700 doctoral programs in Germany, and the number is rising.

Oldenburg and the Northwestern region of Germany have an international reputation as an outstanding location for research in the field of marine biology that successfully attracts both national and international scientists and students.

Early career scientists in the PhD program “Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity” or in the Collaboration Network of Marine Graduate Programs at the University of Oldenburg are welcome to participate in most training courses offered at our partner institutions.
