From 7-11 September 2017, the University of Oldenburg hosted guests from Nelson Mandela University, South Africa, which is one of the University of Oldenburg's closest and most important partnerships.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Leitch and the Head of the International Education Office, Dr Nico Jooste, were able to get to know established and new areas of co-operation in numerous meetings with the Presidential Board and the Schools, which were coordinated by the International Student Office, and to discuss future joint research and exchange activities.

The visit also served as preparation for a delegation trip to the NMU in November.
