To gain deeper insight in assembly processes, we will analyse the time axis of local community development, by making use of some of the longest permanent plot data available in NW- Europe.

At each time step, we will contrast the trait composition of entering species with the trait composition of the resident community. These pairs will show sequence effects (rejection, co-existence, alteration) and reveal the relevance of dominance versus lottery competition in assembly at various environments.
