Notes on deadlines and processes

Note for planned cooperative study programmes

A cooperation agreement must be submitted to the MWK together with the preliminary application. The cooperation agreement should therefore be agreed with the partner at an early stage.

In the case of cooperative degree programmes, a letter of intent from the other university (ideally a joint letter of intent) must be submitted when the Department for Study Affairs is informed by the Dean of Studies.

Cooperation agreements with other universities must be reviewed by the Legal Affairs Units of all participating universities and can only be submitted to the university management for signature after their final approval. In the case of co-operation with international partners, a longer coordination period should generally be taken into account, as different legal regulations may need to be observed.

Procedure for establishing new degree programmes

General information

The establishment of degree programmes must be notified to the MWK at least 18 months before the planned start of the programme. This is to ensure that the programme has been included in the target agreement on study programmes and that the review and accreditation can be completed before the programme begins.

Please note the following when making your plans: The deadline for notifying the Ministry of Science, Research and Higher Education (MWK) of plans to establish degree programmes starting in the winter semester 2026/27 has passed. If you are currently planning new degree programmes, please contact the Department for Study Affairs without delay.
