First and foremost, a huge congratulations to Celina Groothuis for finishing her Master’s thesis. Celina has spent the last half year investigating Ullmann coupling reactions on oxide surfaces. She originally joined us as a research intern, and it has been a pleasure to have her continue her journey with us for her Master’s. Her work on the chemical transformation of molecules on oxide surfaces is a valuable contribution to our fundamental understanding of surface-bound reactions and lays the groundwork for future studies in this direction.

We are also happy to welcome Johanna Holberg, who has joined the team as a research intern. Johanna is focusing on pyrrole-titania surface interaction studies, helping us better understand the adsorption and orientation of these organic molecules on differently prepared titania surfaces.

Both Celina and Johanna have become quite familiar with the UHV setups, which are essential for the surface science-based catalytic model studies we perform. They have both been fantastic additions to the team, bringing great energy to the lab.
