• Title of the habilitation thesis: Religious change in the late Enlightenment using the example of the Lavater School 1770-1805 (publ. Göttingen 2017: Vandenhoeck and Ruprecht)
• Description: Johann Caspar Lavater and his teachings contributed in various ways to the religious dynamics of the Enlightenment era. This study focuses on media use in mimetic programmes, therapeutic and pedagogic areas of religion, and scientific notions in public discourse. It offers insights into the formation processes of some major religious fields at the threshold of the modern era, including those of Mesmerism, Spiritism, sympathetic magic, and civil religion.
