Hölderlin 2020–26
The anniversary year 2020 – marking the 250th birthdays of Hölderlin, Hegel and Beethoven, and the 100th birthday (as well as the 50th anniversary of his death) of Paul Celan – unfortunately turned out quite differently from what had been planned due to the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the pandemic, almost all of the more than 650 events planned across Europe to mark Hölderlin’s anniversary had to be cancelled or postponed.
For Hölderlin’s 250th birthday, see also the article from ‘Forschung & Lehre-Online’ under ‘Documents’ here:
From 9 to 12 June 2022, the 37th Annual Conference of the International Hölderlin Society finally took place in Tübingen under the title ‘Why Poets in Meagre Times?’, which had already been planned for 2020. The 38th Annual Conference took place from 23 to 26 May on the theme ‘Hölderlin’s Beginnings’ in his birthplace, Lauffen am Neckar, and the 39th Annual Conference took place from 28 to 31 May 2026 in Tübingen on the theme ‘Hölderlin’s Images’.
