Lecturers

Ellen von Hagen

Ellen von Hagen is responsible for training students as language assistants in the programme Deutsch PLUS.
She has been working at the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg since 2015, where she teaches mainly in language and additional courses at the A2 and B1 levels.
Ellen von Hagen studied German and Protestant theology at the Karlsruhe University of Education. She studied German as a foreign language at the University of Rostock.

Matthias Jürgens

Matthias Jürgens, coordinator for German, is responsible for the German courses and the DSH examination at the Language Centre. He teaches mainly in the field of preparatory German courses and German for academic purposes.
Matthias Jürgens was born in Aurich (East Frisia). In 2010-13, he worked as a DAAD lecturer at the Universitat de València (Spain), in 2007-10 as a DAAD lecturer at the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro (Italy) and in 2006-7 as a DAAD language assistant at the University of Khartoum (Sudan).
He studied German, Hispanic Studies and German as a foreign language at the University of Göttingen as well as at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), where he also taught German as a teaching assistant.

Franziska Lange

Franziska Lange studied German as a foreign language at the University of Leipzig. She has worked at universities in Brno (Czech Republic), Cairo (Egypt) and Regensburg (Germany) in the field of German as a foreign language. She has also developed online learning materials in this field.
She has been working at the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg since 2016, where she mainly teaches preparatory German courses.

Clara Liehmann

Clara Liehmann is responsible for supporting applicants in developing their proficiency of German during preparatory German courses and mainly teaches preparatory courses.
She worked in Hamburg for several years, including at the University of Hamburg and the Goethe Institute. She previously spent a year teaching at USST's Shanghai-Hamburg College in Shanghai (China) and worked as a DAAD language assistant at the University of Wrocław (Poland). She studied German, Romance and German as a second language at the universities of Mainz, Heidelberg and València (Spain).

Heike Reichert

Heike Reichert studied German language and literature, sociology and journalism at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and German as a foreign language at the TU Braunschweig. Her focus from 2015 to 2020 was working with refugee youth and students, including in the DAAD project Bridges4Refugees at TU Braunschweig. Since October 2022, she has been teaching German courses at Carl von Ossietzky University.

Jana Stöckeler

Jana Stöckeler studied Translation Studies and German as a foreign language at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken. In Saarbrücken, she taught German for international students, scientists, doctors and refugees.
In recent years, she has worked as a language assistant and lecturer in educating German teachers and translators through the German Academic Exchange Service in the Czech Republic (University of Ostrava and University of Hradec Kralove). She teaches mainly in preparatory courses at the Language Centre.

Inessa Vogel

Inessa Vogel was born and raised in Kazakhstan. She studied German as a foreign language at the Eurasian University of Astana in Kazakhstan. After her studies, she worked there for five years as a lecturer in German as a foreign language.
She then completed a double degree at the University of Oldenburg with a Magister degree in German Studies (specialising in German as a foreign language) and Education, as well as a Diplom in Intercultural Education.
Inessa Vogel has been teaching German for international students at the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg since 2001. Her specialisation is pronunciation training, e-learning and language learning counselling.

Daniela Rommel

Daniela Rommel has been teaching German as a foreign language at the University of Oldenburg since 2000 and has been coordinating the language partnership programme since 2011. She has many years of experience in foreign language teaching (German, English, French) and in curriculum development. She has worked at universities and in adult education in North America, Europe and Central Asia. She graduated in the first and second State Examination for teaching at Gymnasium in German and French and obtained a Master’s degree in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing (USA) and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration (USA). She was born and grew up in Oldenburg.
