Study without prior knowledge

Preparatory Course in Russian

To enable students to commence a degree in Slavic Studies even without prior knowledge of the language, the Institute of Slavic Studies offers a free preliminary course – the Russian Preparatory Course – each winter semester, which prepares students for the minimum entry level of the language module sla111 Russian 1. The preparatory course takes place during the first half of the lecture period in the winter semester, whilst the sla111 Russian 1 module takes place during the second half of the lecture period.

Please note that the preparatory course is an intensive course comprising 3 sessions of 3 hours each per week. The Russian 1 course is then reduced to 2 sessions of 3 hours each per week.

Please refer to the course catalogue.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the staff in the Department of Slavonic Studies.

Polish

Prospective students wishing to study Polish who have no prior knowledge of the language should enrol in the module in the winter semester sla121 Polish 1 (!2 sessions per week!). If required, a catch-up or advanced course will be offered at a later date.
