I am #UOL because...

...I play my part in the welcoming culture at the University of Oldenburg. Promoting intercultural encounters, making internationality visible and accompanying young people on their academic journey are meaningful tasks for me and a matter close to my heart.

What I like about my work...

...that the world comes to me every day because I advise international students and people who want to become international students. The topics and content of my work always have an international flavour. However, the world's crises are also often tangible. I like the team I work in and the committed networks within and outside the university that I am part of. I also like the creative freedom I am given in developing and implementing programmes for intercultural skills development.

A special moment for me at university was...

...a moment of gratitude from an international student. She told me that I had been a key figure in her life. Because without my work, everything would have been very different. And another moment is repeated every year, namely the international summer festival, which I have been organising since I started at the University of Oldenburg. There's nothing better than the moment when the festival finally starts, everything works out and that great atmosphere sets in.

I would like to swap a week with...

...my colleagues from astrophysics at work in the university observatory. Travelling into the vastness of space with my eyes would be a real highlight for me.

I wish the UOL all the best for the next 50 years...

...openness, tolerance and the courage and drive to break new ground.
