Series of lectures "Computing Science in Focus"
The energy systems of tomorrow, data science and machine learning: In a series of lectures organised by the Department of Computing Science, professors who have been newly appointed in recent years report on their areas of specialisation in a way that is easy to understand. The series of lectures will take place at CORE (Heiligengeiststraße 6-8).

Exhibition "50 years of KIBUM - Children's and Youth Literature at Carl von Ossietzky University"
Which books for my child? This question was the starting point for the first KIBUM in Oldenburg in 1975. It has now been held annually for 50 years. Generations of children, parents, readers and teachers have visited the fair and its diverse supporting programme with readings, film and theatre performances or the awarding of the Oldenburg Children's and Young People's Book Prize. The exhibition shows the past and present of this long-standing successful co-operation between the university and the city and opens up perspectives for the future of KIBUM.

Inaugural series of lectures in linguistics and cultural studies
What art is in shares? What are the challenges of researching children's books? And what role does music play in the history of knowledge? Questions like these will be addressed by the newly appointed professors of School III at the public inaugural series of lectures.

Exhibition with works by Klaus Beilstein
Klaus Beilstein, Oldenburg artist and long-time lecturer at the university, has become famous for his portraits. The exhibition "A chair tells university history - Klaus Beilstein's 'university heads' in the University Archives Oldenburg" in the foyer of the University Library centres around a total of 15 of these more than 550 portraits created over the past decades.
On selected dates, interested parties can also view the originals in the University Archives by appointment.

Theatre "A good, decent thing"
In the historical drama "Eine gute, anständige Sache", the Oldenburg University Theatre shows Ossietzky's life and work from the perspective of his daughter Rosalinde. Alternating between biographical scenes and moments in which a modern Rosalinde addresses the audience directly, the theatre attempts one thing above all: to show that she was more than just a daughter - a pacifist, social worker, dancer, but above all an emancipated woman.

CORE Quiz Night x UOL
Every month at CORE Oldenburg, it's time to quiz and win cool prizes. On Friday, 18 October, from 7 pm, the university will host one of these quiz nights. In four rounds with different categories, the teams can show off their knowledge and gain an insight into the university's diverse topics.

From AI in the classroom, social consequences of the pandemic and new challenges for the EU: current research on these and other topics relating to schools, education and society is the focus of a lecture series organised by School I. Award ceremony of the film competition "Spontan Getan"
Together with the Studentenwerk Oldenburg, the university has invited students to demonstrate their film-making skills. The film screening of "the fastest film competition in the northwest" followed by the award ceremony will take place in the Casablanca cinema.

Dialogue concert "Carl von Ossietzky today"
For the final public concert of the seminar, students under the direction of Prof Dr Kadja Grönke will explore the significance and values of Carl von Ossietzky today. The programme focuses on works by composers from the Institute of Music, including several world premieres that were created specifically for this dialogue concert.

Improvisation theatre "Wat ihr Wollt"
On the Mensa forecourt, under the open summer sky, stories are created, inspired by this very venue - over the last five decades, tens of thousands of people have met here, drank coffee, learnt, enjoyed the sun, fallen in love, argued and laughed. The group "Wat Ihr Wollt" is putting on an evening of improv theatre to mark the anniversary.

A bridge to the future
Making the inside of the university audible to the outside: This is the aim of a sound installation that will be heard for the first time on the Haarentor campus on this day. Berlin artist Enrico Stolzenburg will make the pedestrian bridge at building A2 resound in a collaborative composition with students and teaching staff from the Institute of Music. The permanent installation will be opened with a performance.

International Summer Fest
An intercultural marketplace with booths by international students and university organisations provide information and culinary treats at the summer festival organised by the International Student Office. Music, dance, theatre and open-air performances on the festival stage will create a special summer feeling. Children can also enjoy games with the Spielefant.

Long night of hearing
With the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all and the Collaborative Research Centre Hearing Acoustics, the University of Oldenburg is a nationally and internationally recognised location for hearing research. The University, Oldenburg Hearing Centre, Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT and Jade University of Applied Sciences are opening their doors and offering a varied programme.

50 years of UOL - the library dances
For one evening, the University Library will be dancing, laughing, drinking and celebrating. The library foyer will be transformed into a dance floor that encourages dancing. The big band sound of the renowned Pik10 orchestra spans a musical arc from dance music classics to rock and disco highlights of the past fifty years.

Anniversary singing
Under the direction of Silja Stegemeier, the UniChoir and the Chamber Choir will be performing the Advent service from 6.00 to 7.00 pm in St Lambert's Church in Oldenburg: with Christmas sounds from the countries of our partner universities. All visitors are cordially invited to join in the singing.
