I am #UOL because...
... I am not only involved in research and teaching, but also enjoy taking on responsibility in self-administration. Furthermore, as an HSVer in "Werder-Land" (quote from a student), I support cultural diversity at the university.
What I like about my work...
... in general, the main tasks of being a professor are to acquire and impart knowledge, as well as the freedom to organise one's working life and to get together with young people. At the University of Oldenburg in particular, the openness, the short distances and flat hierarchies as well as the widespread lack of pretence.
A special moment at the University of Oldenburg was...
... when a speedster suddenly came from behind during the lecture, placed a chocolate Father Christmas on the lectern and disappeared up the stairs out of the lecture theatre. He probably didn't realise that the lecture was being recorded. And I would still like to know what the purpose of this action was.
I would swap for a week...
... with the little mouse that scurries through the corridors of the Presidium and listens to the conversations.
For the next 50 years, I wish the university...
For me, 50 years is too visionary. As a rather pragmatically orientated person, I immediately have Helmut Schmidt's saying in my ear: If you have visions, go to the doctor. For the next few years, I wish the university stable student numbers, higher state allocations, more digital simplifications (including for elections), continued interdisciplinarity, openness and creativity as well as fewer burnouts at all staff levels.
