Head of Scientific Computing
School V - School of Mathematics and Science
Operating unit for technical-scientific infrastructure
At the university since: 2014

I am #UOL because...

...my Scientific Computing department offers specialist advice on high-performance computing and research data management, providing important support for research.

What I like about my work...

...that my tasks are very varied. It's nice when I can help others to solve problems. I also have the best employees and colleagues you could wish for.

A special moment for me at university was...

...the inauguration ceremony for the high-performance computer CARL on the occasion of its placement in the list of the 500 fastest supercomputers worldwide. In the meantime, we have taken CARL out of operation after seven years and put ROSA into operation instead. The inauguration ceremony is still to come, even if it wasn't quite enough for the "Top 500" this time.

I would like to swap a week with...

... that's difficult, I can do (almost) nothing except something to do with computers. ;-)
Because I quite like cooking, maybe with someone from the canteen team. But not for chopping onions or peeling potatoes, please...

I wish the UOL all the best for the next 50 years...

...health, or: staying healthy - whatever that means exactly for a university.
