The COAST - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research at the University of Oldenburg has a vacancy for a student assistant, to start on 1 May 2023.

The working hours are 40 hours per month.

Background to the post:

In 2023, various controlling tasks will arise in connection with the university’s sustainability activities. These relate to the following projects:

  • Preparation of the greenhouse gas inventory for the University of Oldenburg for the 2022 reporting year (Q2 2023)
  • Participation in the Green Metrics Ranking (Q3 2023)
  • Preparation of the fourth sustainability report (Q4 2023/Q1 2024)

The student assistant is expected to provide significant support and assistance with these tasks. The post is based at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research and is intended to run for the summer semester 2023 and the winter semester 2023/2024.

Work steps and tasks:

  • Analysing the data required for the assessment and the ranking with a view to efficiently requesting it from the relevant administrative departments
  • Retrieving and processing the required data
  • Researching the current emission factors for the greenhouse gas inventory
  • Actively supporting the course on the development of the sustainability report during the winter semester
  • Coordination with the Sustainability Reporting Working Group and other university bodies

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least a ‘good’ grade in a relevant subject
  • A strong ability to work independently and take personal responsibility
  • Very good project management skills
  • Good ability to familiarise oneself thoroughly with details
  • Good communication skills and a confident manner
  • Basic knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting and sustainability reporting
