Theoretical Astrophysics

The theoretical astrophysics in Oldenburg focuses primarily on the research of gravity. This includes the general theory of relativity by Albert Einstein, but also alternative theories of gravity. The working group Fieldtheory deals with theoretical models of astrophysical objects like Neutron Stars, White Dwarfs, and Black Holes. By means of analytical and numerical methods it is also possible to investigate objects, which are only theoretically postulated: Boson Stars, Wormholes, and Black Objects in higher dimensions.
