Code of Conduct

The Buddy Programme is founded on the principles of mutual respect, inclusion, intercultural exchange, and personal responsibility. All participants are expected to contribute actively to creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for everyone involved by complying with the following rules:

1. Respect and inclusion

Treat all participants with respect, kindness, and openness. Embrace and celebrate cultural diversity, showing curiosity and appreciation for different backgrounds and perspectives.

Discrimination, harassment (in particular sexual harassment), bullying, or any behaviour that makes others feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or unwelcome is strictly prohibited. This includes discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other characteristic.

2. Communication

Communicate politely, appropriately, and with sensitivity to cultural differences. Respond to messages and requests within a reasonable time to maintain reliability and trust.

3. Personal boundaries and privacy

Respect personal boundaries and privacy at all times. Avoid unwanted or excessive contact that may cause discomfort.

4. Responsibility and reliability

Take full responsibility for your actions and their impact on others. Commit to your role in the Buddy programme and follow through on agreed responsibilities.

5. Reporting and support

If any concerns, conflicts, or inappropriate behaviour arise, promptly inform the Buddy Programme team. Reports will be handled confidentially and with care to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

6. Zero tolerance policy

Any form of discrimination, bullying, (sexual) harassment or behaviour that threatens the safety or comfort of others will not be tolerated. Violations of this code may result in warnings, mediation, or exclusion from the Buddy Programme.
