The overall objective of WP 1.2 “Salt Water Dynamics” is to quantify the salt water volumes passing dikes under storm surge conditions and leading to a flooding of the hinterland. The key tasks include

1. quantification of wave overtopping over dikes and occurrence probability of mean overtopping discharges,
2. analysis of dike breaching,
3. flood inundation simulation of the hinterland; including sensitivity and probabilistic analyses.
