Once you have registered, you will be able to submit training requests via this platform. Following an introduction, laser safety training and instrument training, you will be able to make bookings via this platform.

Safety Instructions

Laser safety instructions:

Every new user must attend a short laser safety induction delivered by a laser safety officer (currently both Dr Petra Bolte and Dr Levent Gütay). Please note that the laser safety training must be repeated annually, in line with the general laboratory safety training. ( Note: we are currently working on a downgrading of the laser safety classification; further information will be sent to users shortly)

S2 safety training:

Users of the Olympus FV3000 (with Picoquant FLIM system) must complete an S2 safety briefing before being permitted to enter the lab in W34. This briefing must be refreshed annually. For general enquiries or to report system failures, error messages, other problems with the set-ups or computers, etc., please contact us by telephone, email or via the OpenIRIS user platform.

We are happy to advise you on your projects and to clarify the time and effort required for your work. The equipment may only be used independently by trained users.

Update on SP8 bookings:

• During core hours (8.00–20.00), there are three time slots per day: 7.45–11.45 (open start); 12.00–16.00; 16.15–20.15 (open end).
• You are permitted to book three time slots per week. There are no restrictions outside core hours.
• There are two exceptions: if the SP8 is not fully booked or if the SP8 microscope is available (not booked in the calendar), you can book free slots for the following day or use it without booking (first come, first served).
