Departmental Gender Equality Officer
Departmental Gender Equality Officer
The equal opportunities work of School IV
The development and implementation of strategies and measures in the area of gender equality and diversity is enshrined as a management responsibility within the Dean's Office. As departmental gender equality officers, we support the work of the Chief Gender Equality Officer at School and Institute level.
Essentially, we are the point of contact for any issues relating to equal opportunities within your Institutes. We provide support during recruitment processes and participate in committees to ensure that equal opportunities are realised. If you are confronted with sexist comments or behaviour, or discrimination on the grounds of gender, in the workplace or in a seminar, you can contact us. We are also the people to contact in cases of sexual harassment. Please also note the services offered by the ConTakt counselling centre.
Our responsibilities include:
- Supporting recruitment processes to monitor and enforce equality measures
- Representing the interests of women in recruitment and appointment procedures
- Providing advice to female staff members (research assistants and academic staff), female students, graduates and PhD candidates, particularly on career development and ensuring equal opportunities for all genders
- Providing advice on balancing family life with studies, academic training and a career
- Providing advice in cases of (sexual) discrimination and (sexual) violence; helping to put people in touch with professional psychological and legal counselling services
- Implementation of needs-based measures, such as those relating to gender-sensitive teaching, etc.
- Development of new measures to promote gender equality, tailored to the current situation at individual Institutes
If you have any questions, suggestions or require advice, please do not hesitate to contact us. We take your concerns seriously and will work with you to determine the next steps. All discussions are, of course, treated confidentially, and we have a secure space for this purpose: the Gender Equality Office (V 03 1-W116a).
