"Accessibility in areas used for tourism: How do the service providers of a tourist destination deal with the barrier of food intolerance?"
Nicole Neumann successfully completed her doctorate in the working group on 10 October 2022. Her dissertation is entitled "Accessibility in areas used for tourism: How do the service providers of a tourist destination deal with the barrier of food intolerance?". The thesis was reviewed by Prof Dr Ingo Mose (University of Oldenburg) and Prof Dr Torsten Kirstges (Jade University of Applied Sciences). Prof. Dr Rainer Buchwald (University of Oldenburg) was also involved in the thesis defence. The working group would like to congratulate Nicole Neumann and wish her all the best for her future academic appointments.
Visit to the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna
At the invitation of the Institute for Sustainable Economic Development and the Institute for Landscape Development, Recreation and Nature Conservation Planning, Prof Dr Ingo Mose was a guest at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna in June 2022. During his stay, he gave a public lecture on current developments in the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea biosphere region and took students from various degree programmes on excursions to the Hohe Wand Nature Park, the Wienerwald Biosphere Reserve and the Thayatal National Park.
Excursion to the Scottish Hebrides
Students on the Master's degree course in Landscape Ecology took part in an excursion to the Scottish Hebrides from 24 July to 3 August 2022. Led by Ingo Mose, Vera Kreutle and Victoria Eckerle, the participants focussed on aspects of landscape history, the connections between culture and landscape, regional development and nature conservation. The programme also included visits to Sabhal Mor Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture on the Isle of Skye, and Lewis Castle College on the Isle of Lewis. Both institutions are part of the University of the Highlands and Islands network.
Kellerwald-Edersee
Under the guidance of Nathalie Tent and Ingo Mose, students on the Master's degree programmes in Landscape Ecology, Sustainability Economics and Management and Water and Coastal Management visited the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, Nature Park and Geopark. Their visit focussed on issues relating to the planning and management of large-scale protected areas and their significance for regional development.
