Vanessa Barbagiovanni Bugiacca M.A.
Research Assistant/ Project Coordinator
Vanessa Barbagiovanni Bugiacca studied Material Culture/Anglistics (B.A.) and Cultural Analyses (M.A.) at the University of Oldenburg.
She was involved in various e-learning projects at the University of Oldenburg (e-portfolios, research-based learning and teaching). She has been working as a research assistant in the "Project Quality Plus - Digital Literacy in Material Culture" since April 2019 and has also been responsible for project coordination since October 2020.
Her research focus is on cultural studies subjectivisation research, resistant practices, digital research practices and the use of digital technologies.
Glenn Arthur Ricci, M.A.
Research Assistant
Glenn Arthur Ricci received his Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology from Northern Illinois University (USA). He studied his Masters in Historical Archaeology at Leicester University (UK). From 2013 to 2015 he was curator for the ethnographic collection at the State Museum of Nature and Man Oldenburg. Since 2018, he has been a doctoral candidate on the topic of "German Culture in Colonial Ethnographic Collections" at the Institute of Material Culture under Prof Dr Karen Ellwanger.
Since April 2021, he has been a research assistant in the project "Qualität Plus - Digitale Kompetenz am Standort Materielle Kultur".
Cheyenne (Cleo) Lauterbach
Media tutor
Cheyenne Lauterbach has been working as a student assistant for the Institute of Material Culture at the University of Oldenburg since 2020 and is a media tutor in the Quality Plus - Digital Literacy project at the Material Culture Centre. She is currently part of the Institute's three-person PR team and, together with Sabrina Alber, is responsible for the media lab, providing support to students and teaching staff.
After completing her bachelor's degree in sociology with a focus on criminology and gender studies, she is currently completing her master's degree in cultural analyses.
Hannah Rabea Wagner
Collection assistant
Hannah Rabea Wagner has been working as a student assistant at the Institute of Material Culture at the University of Oldenburg since 2019. She coordinates and supports the creation of learning content for the online course "Researching and learning about things" in the project "Quality Plus - Digital Literacy at the Material Culture Centre". She also optimises the structure of the user interface for users of the "Sammlung Textile Alltagskultur" database and is available to answer students' and teachers' questions about using the database.
After completing a Bachelor's degree in Art and Cultural History, specialising in Classical Archaeology and European Ethnology, she is currently completing a Master's degree in Museum and Exhibition.
Christoph Wollesen
Media tutor
In March 2020, Christoph Wollesen started working as a student assistant at the Institute of Material Culture at the University of Oldenburg under Karen Ellwanger. Since June 2020, he has also been working as a media tutor in the project "Qualität Plus - Digital Literacy am Standort Materielle Kultur". In addition to supporting digital courses and individual lecturer support, he is part of the PR team for the Institute together with Cheyenne Lauterbach and Johanna Hänßler. Here he enjoys getting creative using various image and video editing programmes.
Christoph is currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in the subjects of Material Culture: Textiles and Art and Media.
Dr Christopher Sommer
Research Assistant/ Project Coordination
After studying history, German and museum studies in Mannheim and Oldenburg, Christopher Sommer travelled to New Zealand on an International Doctoral Scholarship from the University of Auckland. In 2018, Christopher Sommer returned to Germany with his doctoral degree and has been working as a research assistant at the University of Oldenburg ever since.
From December 2018 to September 2020, he worked as a project coordinator for the MKW-funded projects "Quality Plus - Digital Literacy in Material Culture" and "Innovation Plus - Uni Action". Since October 2020, he has been researching in the DFG-funded project "The 'tamed' war - On current exhibition strategies and perception patterns of visitors in military history museums".
Tabea Meret Stracke B.A.
Research assistant
Tabea Meret Stracke studied German Studies and Philosophy at the University of Oldenburg. She also worked as a media designer at the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning. There she was also able to gain initial experience in the field of academic collaboration after completing her BA degree. Since March 2021, she has been a research assistant in the project "Qualität Plus - Digital Literacy am Standort Materielle Kultur". She also works as a freelance illustrator and author.
Sabrina Alber
Media tutor
Sabrina Alber has been a media tutor in the "Quality Plus - Digital Literacy in Material Culture" project since April and is responsible for the creation of text development processes and the digitalisation of learning content in various courses. She supports students who have questions of any technical nature and helps with the realisation of digital seminar work.
She is a Bachelor's student in the subjects of History and Art and Media and has enjoyed experimenting privately with all kinds of programmes and applications that make her studies easier or more interesting.
