Summer school "Modern Computational Science: Optimisation"

Optimisation processes in business, technology and the natural sciences are the topics of the 4th "Modern Computational Science" summer school. It is aimed at students of natural science subjects as well as those interested in business.

Optimisation is the focus of the international summer school "Modern Computational Science", which takes place from 20 to 31 August. The organisers are the computer scientist Prof. Dr Martin Fränzle, the physicist Prof. Dr Alexander Hartmann and Dr Reinhard Leidl, School V - School of Mathematics and Science. Anyone interested can register until 15 May.

Optimisation is a permanent challenge for business, technology and the natural sciences. Computer simulations are a central method of optimisation. The speakers - specialists from universities in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the UK - will address topics such as optimisation processes in the development of computer programs, statistical data analysis, bioinformatics and theoretical chemistry. The conference language is English.

Participation is open to students from Germany and abroad from the third year of study up to doctoral students in the natural sciences, Computing Science and Mathematics as well as interested parties from industry. The summer school is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. Participation in the summer school is made possible at low cost through the awarding of scholarships. Through the use of tuition fees, 15 students from the University of Oldenburg can also participate free of charge.

A conference volume with the presentations from the summer school will be published by Oldenburg University Press.
