Canada
A country full of opportunities for your semester abroad
Canada is one of the most popular destinations for an exchange semester - and for good reason: the second largest country in the world inspires with its diversity of nature, cultures and high-quality educational institutions. With around 40 million inhabitants, Canada is relatively sparsely populated. The population is mainly concentrated along the US border and in large metropolises such as Calgary, Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver.
Canada looks back on a complex history - from the indigenous peoples, through colonisation by France and Great Britain, to today's multicultural society. This cultural richness is still visible today and characterises the country's coexistence.
The country consists of ten provinces and three territories, each of which has its own cultural characteristics - from the French-influenced regions of Québec to the indigenous communities in the far north. English and French are the two official languages, although English is well spoken in most parts of the country.
The Canadian university system is highly regarded internationally. The universities are practice-orientated, have modern facilities and encourage independent work.
Typical of Canada? Friendliness, openness, impressive nature with forests, mountains and lakes - and of course maple syrup, ice hockey and the famous "Sorry" at every opportunity.
An exchange semester in Canada offers a unique experience not only academically, but also culturally and personally!
