We are delighted to announce that Dr. Lars Mohrhusen has been awarded the Prize for Excellence in Teaching by Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. Sponsored by the Universitätsgesellschaft Oldenburg e.V., this prize is a special recognition of his commitment to combining cutting-edge research with university teaching.
The award was given for the lecture “Solid-gas interfaces in theory and application” in the Master's program in Chemistry. The decision was based on positive course evaluations from students, who particularly emphasized the lively interaction and direct relevance to practice.
In the lecture, Lars Mohrhusen teaches the “toolbox of chemistry” for deciphering surface phenomena at the atomic level. In doing so, he bridges the gap between fundamental principles and applications at the cutting edge of current research. The content is deeply embedded in the ongoing research activities of our “Hybrid Catalysts” working group.
Such success is always a team effort. Special thanks therefore go to the university didactics team as well as Justin Klimek, Niko Kruse, and Aaron R. von Seggern for their active support in the practical implementation of the course content. We are delighted that our enthusiasm for surface chemistry and the investigation of interfaces has been so well received by the students.
