International scientific workshop at the end of the REENEA project in Oldenburg

After almost five years, the REENEA ("Regional Energy Transition") research project is entering the home straight. The REENEA team therefore organised a final scientific workshop to discuss current research topics with an international scientific community. Many of the 12 scientists from Denmark, Germany, Norway and Switzerland who travelled to the event had already repeatedly accompanied and supported the REENEA project in various roles over the past few years.

The Smart House Oldenburg hosted the workshop from 21 to 22 September. In a total of three sessions, we discussed actors and institutions in transition processes, "Phase II" of the energy transition (which is characterised by hydrogen and sector coupling activities, among other things) and the geographical multi-level dynamics of energy transitions. These three topics reflect the wide range of scientific debates to which the REENEA project has contributed and continues to contribute during its lifetime. As part of the project, the team conducted over 200 interviews with experts, analysed further data using various methods and has published 7 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals to date. Fortunately, the REENEA project has been extended by the DFG ("German Research Foundation") until mid-2023, so that further results from the REENEA project can be analysed in scientific publications in the coming months. The stimulating discussions at the workshop have given us a lot of new impetus for this.
