P.p. Karsten Speck (University of Oldenburg) is monitoring and evaluating school social work in general education schools in Hamburg on behalf of the Ministry of Schools, Family and Vocational Training of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The multi-professional co-operation between the actors is at the centre of the study.

In order to gain scientific insights into school social work in multi-professional co-operation in Hamburg, 1. secondary analyses of quantitative data and relevant documents, 2. qualitative surveys with various actors at the action and management level and 3. a quantitative survey of various groups of actors are planned.

The evaluation started at the end of 2025 with a kick-off event at the Ministry of Schools, Family and Vocational Education in Hamburg, at which the study design and milestones were agreed. At the start of the 2026 summer semester, 19 students will now also be included in the evaluation as part of the project phase of the Bachelor's degree programme in Education. The students are taking part in the seminars led by Prof. Dr Karsten Speck and Dr Anja Schäfer and are entrusted with the detailed design, implementation and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative surveys. The students will present the results in February 2027.

The overall duration of the evaluation project ends in September 2028.
