"Research methods in the educational sciences"
Qualitative and quantitative empirical methods play a central role in current research, teaching and discourse in educational science. The results of research form a basis for political decisions. The Research Methods working group at the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Oldenburg is responsible for teaching methods in the Bachelor of Education, the Bachelor of Education in the Migration Society and the research-oriented Master of Education. It also offers courses on school social work and service learning. In addition, the working group regularly carries out research projects for various funding organisations and clients in the educational and social sector. The working group's current research focus is on
- Co-operation research (e.g. multi-professionalism, multi-professional co-operation, co-operation between youth welfare, schools and KJPP, school social work, recognition in multi-professional teams, co-operation in child protection)
- Engagement research (e.g. civic and voluntary engagement, service learning, infrastructure facilities for promoting engagement, promoting engagement in structurally weak regions)
- Research into school absenteeism (e.g. truancy/refusal to attend school, support for disadvantaged, impaired and mentally abnormal children and young people, personal environment analysis)
- Educational research (e.g. digitalisation and flexibilisation in higher education, research methods and skills development in international comparison, decolonisation in higher education)
- Intervention and effectiveness research (e.g. evaluation and effectiveness testing of prevention and intervention programmes and projects)
Current and completed research projects can be found under the menu item "Research" as well as on the pages of the professorship and staff.
