Education and academic appointment

• 1957-1967: Attended primary and secondary school
• 1967-1971: Apprenticeship at the municipal utilities in Bielefeld
• 1973: A-levels at Westfalenkolleg Bielefeld
• 1974-1980: Studied biology, philosophy and sociology at Bielefeld University
