DFG research group project on needs-based justice
The project "Measures of Needs Justice, Expertise and Coherence" is a sub-project of the DFG Research Unit "Needs Justice and Distribution Procedures" (FOR 2104). In the 2nd funding phase, FOR 2104 deals with differentiations in the application of the needs principle. Our sub-project focuses on three influencing factors: (a) the recipient's personal responsibility for his or her care situation, (b) the recipient's civic embedding and (c) the importance of the fulfilment of needs for a decent life. On the theoretical side, these factors are modelled mathematically in order to integrate them into measures of need equity. On the experimental side, the extent to which different characteristics of these factors strengthen or weaken the acceptance of a needs-based distribution will be investigated. As a continuation of the first term, the influence on the coherence and reference point dependence of justice judgements and the role of expertise will also be included. For example, it will be investigated whether the judgements of people who frequently deal with needs-based care and of people who know about underprovision from personal experience are more needs-oriented, more coherent and less dependent on reference points.
