Professionalisation programme "Recognition, knowledge, reasoning"
The Research Centre Cognition: Methods, Goals and Concepts has developed the professionalisation programme "Cognition, Knowledge, Reasoning". It consists of the modules pb010: Argumentation, pb022: Epistemology and Philosophy of Science and pb036: Logic, and it offers courses for students of all subjects, with a focus on the compulsory elective area for the teaching profession. The programme teaches interdisciplinary, general education skills in questions of scientific and everyday knowledge acquisition. It promotes critical reflection on scientific work, including logical conclusions and argumentative processes, by encouraging students to engage with fundamental questions such as "What is knowledge?" and "What is the purpose of science?" and by putting various models of stringent argumentation up for discussion. At least two of the modules pb010, pb022 and pb036 must be completed in order to obtain a certificate. However, these modules can also be studied individually.
pb010 - Argumentation (6 CP)
- This module consists of the lecture "Introduction to Theoretical Philosophy" with tutorial. The examination is an oral examination (15-20 minutes).
pb022 - Epistemology and Philosophy of Science (6 CP)
- This module consists of two seminars, which can be freely selected from the courses offered for pb022 (Stud.IP module search). The examination is a seminar paper (10 pages) or a presentation (30 minutes) with handout or an oral examination (15-20 minutes).
pb036 - Logic (6 CP)
- This module is available in two variants. Variant 1 consists of the lecture "Introduction to Logic" with tutorial. Variant 2 consists of the lecture "Introduction to Logic" and a seminar, which can be freely chosen from the courses offered for pb036 (Stud.IP module search). The examination for variant 1 is a written exam (90 minutes) and for variant 2 a seminar paper (10 pages) or a presentation (30 minutes) with handout or an oral examination (15-20 minutes).
- Please note that the lecture "Introduction to Logic" is only offered in the winter semester. For variant 2, you can also attend the seminar in the summer semester instead of the winter semester.
- If you want to take both pb036 and the philosophy module phi130, you must attend the lecture "Introduction to Logic" with tutorial and an additional seminar. You will then have to take two examinations, a written exam (90 minutes) for phi130 and a seminar paper (10 pages) or a presentation (30 minutes) with handout or an oral examination (15-20 minutes) for pb036.
