The central post office of the university - there is also a local post office of the library - is located in the administration building of the university, ground floor room V01 0-004.

Internal and external mail

The central mailroom is the first point of contact for all mail traffic. In addition to accepting external mail, our core tasks include distributing and delivering all incoming mail to university mailboxes and professionally processing and dispatching outgoing mail. We also process small incoming and outgoing consignments in standard and express delivery.

Delivery, collection and mailboxes

The mailroom is your internal partner for all postal services. In addition to the mailing services already described, this also includes the management of P.O. box keys and the planning and optimisation of our delivery routes. The research areas and facilities at our university cover a broad spectrum of tasks and specialisms. Postal services cost money. In order to minimise administrative costs for you, the central mailroom pays in advance for external mailing. We take care of settlement via a finance and cost centre for you.

What requirements must be met?

DIALOGPOST (formerly Infopost) is an offer from German Post that allows you to send bulk mailings with the same content at particularly favourable conditions.

The following requirements must be met for a consignment to be realised as DIALOGPOST:

Please never specify a PO box when sending items! The street address is required for correct delivery.

  • The total weight must not exceed 31.5kg.
  • The contents must be handed over to the post office in an appropriate sturdy container (cardboard box, suitcase, crate).
  • The destination address must be complete (surname, first name if applicable, street, house number, postcode, town). Shipping to a PO box address is not possible!
  • No dispatch of hazardous goods.

Express shipments

  • With an express service, consignments are delivered to the recipient particularly quickly. The customer is guaranteed the delivery time. This means that if the express service promises to deliver the consignment by 9 a.m. on the next working day at the latest, the courier company guarantees that it will arrive on time.
