IT and Internet use in the workplace from a labour law perspective
Heilmann . Langerfeldt
The various work processes in companies have undergone major changes in recent years. The use of IT systems and the Internet has become an integral part of every company. Companies are often reorganising their entire work processes. The background to this development is often the desire for faster communication and information processing. However, the introduction of new technology or the reorganisation of existing workplaces is associated with a large number of labour law issues.
This book "EDV-Einsatz und Internet-Nutzung im Betrieb aus arbeitsrechtlicher Sicht" provides an overview of the main problem areas and an introduction to the legal discussion. To this end, the special features of labour law arising from the use of IT networks in the initiation, conclusion, amendment and termination of employment relationships are first outlined.
This is followed by a presentation of the legal problems arising from the use of IT networks and the Internet within an employment relationship. The specific labour law issues arising from the use by employees, employee representatives and employers are discussed.
Finally, the problem areas under labour protection law arising from their use are explained in more detail and the statutory as well as company, service and collectively agreed regulatory requirements and regulatory options are outlined. A number of references to relevant literature and case law are provided in order to deepen this very complex topic.
