Scheja / Haag
After a brief description of the development of data protection law and the course of the data protection law debate, the author presents the structure of the EC Data Protection Directive and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) in detail. At the centre of the book are the requirements for the admission of the collection, processing and use of personal data. The rights of those affected by data processing and the appointment, tasks and duties of data protection officers are presented. The author deals with practical topics such as video surveillance, cross-border data traffic and data protection on the Internet. In a final chapter, the need to modernise data protection law is explained and possible solutions are outlined.
