Stabilisation or destabilisation through the integration of Eastern European countries? Industry-specific illustration using the example of the automotive industry
Legal seminar at the University of Oldenburg The globalisation of the economy has taken on spectacular proportions in the automotive industry. The tendency towards Europeanisation and internationalisation is undoubtedly particularly pronounced in this sector. It therefore offers a highly suitable object of study for considerations on globalisation. At the same time, it is ideally suited to shed light on the EU project of eastward enlargement, as this must be seen in the context of the Europeanisation tendencies of companies in the European Union. Here, too, the parameter of the automotive industry offers an excellent field of investigation; the large European automotive groups have long since successfully gained a foothold in the Eastern European accession countries, indeed they have almost always created a fait accompli with their corporate policy. The book is essentially concerned with the prevailing global integration and concentration trends from an Eastern European perspective with the EU's eastward enlargement as the starting point. The work by Bonfert, Kropp and Ludwig covers a broad spectrum of the globalisation debate and thus provides a sector-specific overview. At the same time, this approach also clarifies a number of connections that are otherwise all too easy to overlook.
