Prof. Dr Tetiana Kuznietsova (Odessa)
Prof. Dr Tetiana Kuznietsova, a professor at the School of Journalism at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University (Ukraine), has been a partner of the Institute of Slavic Studies for many years.
From 2019 to 2023, she was involved in carrying out the research project ‘Hybridisation from Two Perspectives’. From 2022 to 2025, she carried out research projects at the Institute of Slavic Studies with funding from the Volkswagen Foundation and the DAAD.
Since August 2026, she has been conducting research into the language use of Ukrainian refugees with the support of a DAAD scholarship.
Dr Ulyana Veryna (Minsk)
After studying “Belarusian and Russian Language and Literature” at Belarusian State University, Ulyana Veryna was awarded her PhD in 2001 with a thesis on the poetry of the Belarusian avant-garde of the 1980s and 1990s. In 2014, she was appointed as a lecturer. In 2020, she completed her habilitation thesis on the theory of poetic genres, using contemporary Russian poetry as a case study.
Since July 2022, she has been conducting research as a scholarship holder of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Oldenburg.
The topic of her project is ‘The transnational phenomenon of literature in Belarus from the 1920s to the 1930s’. The fundamental aim of her project is to investigate the transnational context of literature in this region during the aforementioned period, which comprised works in Jewish, Russian and Polish. To systematically analyse this phenomenon, various aspects are being examined: conditions of institutionalisation, aesthetic achievements, transnational interrelationships, and others.
