From 16 September - 19 September 2025, the 27th University Day of the German Association for Sports Science took place in Münster under the motto "Sports Science: Diversity & Sustainability!" took place.
The event kicked off on 16 September with various dvs section and commission meetings, at which Till Koopmann, among others, stepped down from the dvs "Young Scientists" commission after six years (four of which as spokesperson). Jessica Bopp, on the other hand, will remain active as a member of the Speakers' Council for a further two years.
In addition, the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Sport Science in Münster took centre stage at the beginning of the conference - congratulations on this anniversary!
The scientific programme took place from Wednesday to Friday with a total of three interesting keynotes and over 90 working groups and symposia. The Institute of Sport Science was represented with a total of six lectures:
Dirk Büsch and Katharina Pöppel kicked things off. Dirk Büsch presented a study by the Department of Sport and Training from the project "Shoulder stability under load conditions", which is headed by Jessica Bopp. Katharina Pöppel reported on the StrongHer project funded by the Federal Institute of Sports Science. The title of her presentation was: "StrongHer: Painkiller prevention in female junior competitive sport - an innovative approach for healthier decisions".
In the "Talent in Sport" symposium, which was chaired by Till Koopmann, he himself presented current research findings on the topic of "Subjective and objective selection predictors in 3x3 basketball", which he is currently working on with Nora Cermak, Karin Zentgraf (both Goethe University Frankfurt) and Jörg Schorer. Oliver Rühl was also able to present a research paper on the topic of "Efficiency of talent development systems in handball - an international comparison of the German Handball Federation", which was written as part of a seminar in the master's degree programme in sports science.
The two doctoral students Sarah Schulte and Jelto Witt also took the opportunity to present current results from their own research work. In the "Injuries, Prevention & Rehabilitation" working group, Sarah Schulte presented current data on the "Comparison of two measurement methods for identifying a potential risk of injury to the lower extremities". Jelto Witt presented current data from his research project on "The professional view in physical education when assessing in gymnastics". The project is part of the Research Training Group Teacher Education 2040 and looks at differences between students, trainee teachers and experienced teachers in terms of their professional view.
The programme was complemented by a science slam on Wednesday and the conference dinner on Thursday, at which various prizes were also awarded. We congratulate all the winners.
Overall, the University Day was a complete success for the Institute of Sport Science!
We would like to thank the organisation team in Münster for an all-round successful conference and are already looking forward to the 28th dvs University Day in Bayreuth in 2027.
