Prof Dr Hans Peter Litz: Research focus
Institutional and methodological foundations of economic and social statistics
In recent years, the research focus has been on the institutional and methodological foundations of economic and social statistics, including a comparison of official statistics in Germany, France and the Netherlands, the methodological relevance of the adequacy problem in economic and social statistics and the didactic and systematic aspects of its teaching (see publications).
Subject didactics
Subject-specific didactic interests were reflected in the writing of teaching experience in textbooks on statistical methods for the basic study programme and on multivariate statistics for the advanced study programme (cf. publications) and in the development of the teaching/learning platform "Virtual Learning Spaces in Statistics" (cf. ViLeS).
Labour market statistics
The practical economic and social statistical research activities are focused on current labour market statistical problems, in particular on the appropriateness of current employment statistics concepts in the face of the dwindling importance of normal employment relationships and on the actual comparability of "internationally comparable" unemployment rates (cf. publications).
