Professor of Inorganic Chemistry
School V - School of Mathematics and Science
Institute of Chemistry
At the university since: 2020
I am #UOL because...
... my research group and I have been able to cover and promote an exciting part of teaching and research in the field of (inorganic) chemistry for three and a half years.
What I like about my work...
...a lot of things! Interactions with students in lectures, tutorials, mentor meetings, seminars, research projects, theses and at the ring level - as well as with my colleagues in the working group and colleagues on the corridor and in the Institute. Travelling by bike through rural Oldenburg is also fun on any dry morning!
A special moment for me at the University of Oldenburg was...
... my first "Day of Chemistry" as Oldenburg chapter chairman of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) in April 2022. It was the first "Day of Chemistry" since the coronavirus pandemic, a great and successful team effort in which around 175 students and their teachers got to know the Institute of Chemistry - and we got to know them! Those interested can get a small impression on the website of the Institute of Chemistry.
For one week I would like to swap with...
I can think of several possibilities, for example the caretakers in Wechloy (they know every corner), the colleagues in the canteen team (tasting fries in advance), our glassblowing colleagues (great work, also in the other workshops and in maintenance) or the International Office team (a lively exchange with as many strong partner universities as possible strengthens Oldenburg!) But these are just a few ideas...
For the next 50 years, I wish the university...
...organic growth with more and more enthusiastic students in the STEM subjects, i.e. Mathematics, Computing Science, Natural Sciences and Technology, which are becoming increasingly important for our sustainable future. In connection with this, I would also like to see the university receive more financial support from the state government in Hanover.
