Rea Kodalle

Managing Director
Graduate School 3GO
At the university since: 1999 (initially as a student, since 2005 as an employee in various positions, since 2017 also a member of the Staff Council)

I am #UOL because...

...I have never spent as much time anywhere in the world as I have here! I've always been at the university in some way for 25 years. And there is no place and no people who have shaped my thoughts and actions more than the university and its members. I met all my closest friends, with whom I am closely connected today, at the University of Oldenburg. I am, so to speak, uni-socialised through and through.

What I like about my work...

...that I have one of the best, if not the best job at the whole university as Managing Director of 3GO. Accompanying people and projects, advising, fighting for the better - and enjoying so much trust in the process is something I really appreciate.

A special moment for me at university was...

...for example, the presentation I once gave in my master's degree together with my own mother, who was studying Diplom psychology at the time. Or great experiences abroad as part of university projects, for example in Yemen, where I researched women's sport and gave a swimming course for NGO women myself. Winning the Teaching Prize at the very beginning of my teaching experience was also a great experience. But if I had to choose the most wonderful moment, I would have to say the launch of a new graduate college at the university in autumn 2010, when someone who later became my husband stood on the stage. I would describe that as my favourite experience - even if I didn't know it at the time.

I would like to swap a week with...

...with Arno Stuntebeck, chef at the Culinarium in the Uhlhornsweg canteen, because I'm interested in what people like - and where they're picky. I'd like to brighten up my colleagues' lunch breaks, for example with a specially selected piece of fish.

I wish the UOL all the best for the next 50 years...

...above all, that it retains its critical spirit - the critical spirit of the founding fathers and, above all, the founding mothers. I also hope that it remains a place where it is good to work and live. I am convinced that if we all feel comfortable here, it will lead to better science, better work and ultimately to a better society. And last but not least: If I retire in 2046 and am still here, I would like to see the sports science wing, which I have known since 1999, renovated - including the ladies' toilets.
