Niko Kruse, a doctoral student in Dr Lars Mohrhusen's junior research group at the Institute of Chemistry, was awarded a poster prize at the European Conference on Surface Science (ECOSS) in Harrogate (UK). ECOSS is one of the most important European conferences for surface physics and chemistry. Niko Kruse presented the results of his master's thesis there, in which he developed a new synthesis route for the production of two-dimensional titanium sulphide nanoparticles on metal surfaces and comprehensively investigated the structure of the 2D nanomaterials. The award-winning results are the result of a co-operation with the group of Prof. Jeppe V. Lauritsen 's group at the University of Aarhus (Denmark).
